Anna Boon

Originally from Cornwall, Anna settled in Suffolk twenty years ago with her young family. After juggling family life with studying, Anna graduated from Colchester School of Art with a Fine Art Degree in 2008. Since then she has honed her artistic skills whilst teaching drawing and acrylic painting to adults. Anna’s preferred medium in Acrylic and she is inspired by the colours, textures, movement and light found in the environment. They often move to the semi abstract with bold brushwork.

In recent years she has found a new passion for sculpture, particularly representing the figurative form. The sculptures are created, unusually, from recycled fabrics, hardened and patenated in bronze or stone effects. From a wire armature Anna uses strips of fabrics, coated with a non-toxic fabric hardner to mould the figure. Lately she has been experimenting with applying resin, building a very textured surface that helps create movement.
