Elizabeth Morris
I am a printmaker and much of my work has come to reflect two particular island environments. They are Mersea Island , where I live and where I have my studio, and Heir Island, a small island in West Cork where for years I have spent part of the summer. Sea and sand patterns, imprints in mud, seabirds , boats , fish, all are used as ‘starting off points’ in my deeply bitten etchings , and recently I have become interested in images drawn from biblical references and sea myths and poems.
I have exhibited widely in East Anglia, and last year was featured in the Anglia Television series ‘Coastal Inspirations’.
