Each year the Society organises two and sometimes three exhibitions.

These are ‘open’ exhibitions; any artists can submit work for consideration. Non-members pay a higher submission fee than members on each work submitted.

All exhibitions are the result of a selection process. A Selection Panel, elected by the members, plus occasional invited selectors, scrutinise the submitted work from which they choose a suitable number of pieces for the particular venue.

Unfortunately, due to the size of particular venues, it is not always possible to include all selected work.

Exhibition venues include firstsite at the Minories in the centre of Colchester, the Hay Gallery and Studios at the Art School, the Central Library and Life Cafe/Gallery – in fact anywhere considered to be a showcase for the style and quality of work produced by the members. Exhibitions have also been held at the Beecroft at Southend, the Buckingham Gallery in Southwold, the Benham Gallery and the Life Gallery.
