Sylvia Paul's new abstract work, which was initially inspired by a trip to Japan in 2006, has been a dramatic change in direction.
The Japanese inspired paintings include origami paper as well as tickets, newspaper and other found papers and they reflect the strange juxtaposition of ancient and modern cultures.
The recent marine inspired work is a response to her local area of Harwich, the coast, and the marine environment including the comings and goings of the container ships at Felixstowe. Sylvia is a popular tutor and demonstrator and shows her paintings regularly throughout East Anglia and further afield including most recently in Japan.
