Peter Porteous-Butler

I am a Graphic Designer, illustrator and artist who lives in Colchester, Essex. I have been drawing and painting since studying at the North Essex School of Art, mostly as a sideline to my graphic design work. I have recently developed an interest in producing free-flowing ink works using stick and brush, partly as a refreshing break from the precise computer design and illustration work that is my stock-in-trade. I find a real fulfillment and joy in the uniqueness of each piece, and the ink splatters and smudges add a genuine randomness that is difficult and time-consuming for a computer to replicate. I’ve also re-started painting in oils, which I really enjoy – exploring the texture, colour and form as I depict landscapes that inspire me.
