Su Allington

My first adult venture into art was in 1986 when I made a large textile 10’ 4” long x 13.5” wide and entered it into The Domesday Tapestry Competition marking the 900thanniversary of The Domesday Book. I won first prize and The Southend Museum bought my textile. My ego enjoyed that and I have continued to make art when time allowed between family and work. My Mixed Media pieces evolved through my principles of Make-do and Mend, Hoarding and Recycling. My enjoyment of Acrylic painting arose through a love of instant colour. My subjects are mainly nature. I have lived in Colchester for about 40 years and have been a member of both Colchester Art Society and Colne & Colchester Embroiderers'Guild for a large proportion of that time.
