A recent graduate of the School of Art, Colchester institute, Lu Yu was awarded the Graduate Award Scheme 2022-2023 Prize and is currently working from her studio at Cuckoo Farm Studios.

Lu Yu, whose work is minimal and refined, has a love for the purified form of beauty itself. The work encourages audiences to investigate and experience the relationship between space and form.

This artwork is to invite audiences to create different sculptures by rearranging the components differently. The concept is to encourage the audience to create and enjoy the process of creation. There is no audience. Everyone is an artist!

Transcendent

Transcendent

This work is to investigate the relationship between space and form; smooth and rough; man-made and nature; infinite and reality; materiality and abstract; visible and invisible.

It is also trying to explore how human beings are related deeply to nature and the possibility of transcendent our physical existence to the spiritual existence in the world beyond.

Origami Workshops

Lu Yu will also be conducting Origami workshops.

Check www.essexwt.org.uk/nature-reserves/fingringhoe for dates and times or call the reserve 01206 729678.

To encourage children to engage in art creation, children participating the workshop will learn to make origami birds and/or rabbits. The process of making origami art is immensely engaging, enjoyable and rewarding for children. They will improve their hand-eye coordination and mental concentration through the activity.

The finished origami birds can be hung on trees, the rabbits can be put under the trees. Children can also choose to take their finished art pieces home.

Take photos of your origami animals and post on Instagram with the hashtags:
