Alison Adcock

I currently live in Felixstowe with my husband, cats and dogs. I am fascinated by colour relationships and the connections between constructions, land and sea, or simply the shape, form and colours of the landscape itself. But what I am really looking for is that next step beyond the reality in front of me; I try to create rather than simply report. My paintings tend to evolve from “al fresco” watercolour sketches of the landscape or scene in front of me, or from reference photos I’ve taken on location; both of which I use to inform (but not dictate) a final abstract painting, mostly in acrylic although I may add other random media. Or ideas just come from nowhere. I mostly paint acrylic abstracts; I like acrylic as it is quick-drying and I am impatient. I work in layers so I need a quick drying time. I have taken classes in drawing and watercolour, and attended various workshops, but my acrylic techniques are self-taught.
