I work from my home studio/offices at Marks Tey. Born in Essex, I have been working as a professional photographer for over twenty years.
I work within the Russian avant-garde style of Dynamic Suprematism, abstracting compositions from a single photographic image. A process I call Transitional Photography. In 2015 I was made a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society for my conceptual work on Suprematism in photography. In 2016 the Bill Wisden MBE HonFRPS Fellowship of the Year Award was presented to me at the Royal Society.
A single scene is photographed and reduced to its geometry, through rejection & separation, producing a photographic abstraction that has independence of form. Everything else is insignificant and of no artistic value.
The abstracted elements form the basis of a 'new' composition that provides its own energy and dynamics.
Reality has now gone, only the 'essence' of the original image remains. Devoid of coherent meaning, conventional forms of expression are now abandoned, subjectivism and ambiguity prevails.
Photography is now close to zero point and at it’s purest and most creative; light, colour, shape and the viewer.
