Alex Waylett
Alex Waylett is a textile artist and machine embroiderer with an illustration background, whose practice is two fold.
In her own practice she uses the sewing machine, needle and thread, to create decorative artworks that are composed within glass frames for the wall. Her most recent coastal work has pushed her to develop 3-d techniques and she combines stitch with paint and gold accents. Sea urchins, Shells and corals provide the perfect subjects and rockpools the ideal setting as textures, layers and colours are ornately and richly conveyed.
With over 18 years experience of teaching creative textiles she has developed a range of 1 & 2 day textile art workshops, and longer courses taught from her studio situated just outside of Colchester, near Marks Tey.
