John Crossley

Trained in the early seventies at St.Martins School of Art, sculpture dept, then as assistant to Anthony Caro and Gallery Manager the Camden Art Centre. From the mid 80’s taught in various art schools throughout the UK and was senior lecturer at Chelsea college of Art for 30 years.

Colour, paint, surface and form have been a continuous concern for the last 35 years. The work initially starts from observing the world around me, drawing and redrawing until ownership is established.

Exhibited widely both Nationally and Internationally, works in private and public collections throughout the world. Member of The London Group, since 1978 and The Royal Watercolour Society from 2015.

Solo shows include, Eames Fine Art, Cello Factory, Camden Arts Centre, Air Gallery, The Milton Gallery, Harriet Green Gallery, Bicha Gallery, Rochdale Art Gallery, Minories Gallery, Spacex Gallery, Sunderland Arts Centre, Oriel Gallery, North Wales, Aldeburgh Beach Lookout, Group exhibitions in the U.K. including, Curwen, Flowers, Ikon, Southampton City Art, Stoke on Trent, Whitechapel galleries, I.C.A, Royal Academy, Deutsche Bank.

Internationally, British Council Tour, Asia, Grace Teshima Gallery, Paris, Art Fairs, New York, Brussels, Singapore, Toronto, Chicago, Milan, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Athens. Curated various exhibitions in the UK and Europe.
