Arcturus
Through the eyes of great sadness
The heavens
Firmament
Jonathan Rhys-Lewis
I am a self-taught painter (having started in 2009) with no formal training. I work primarily with Acrylics on canvas and wood/hardboard. This is an irregular journey, due to other constraints, and life impacts, and so develops in lurches rather than leaps. My approach has always been of an abstract nature using colour and forms, working quickly, and I hope, instinctively.
I have exhibited locally, most notably in CAS exhibitions, and a solo show a while back at the Mercury Theatre. I have sold works quite consistently over the years, and it is gratifying to know that someone wants my painting in their home.
I have always been interested in art and regularly attend exhibitions, and open studio events. It is really important for me to analyse, and question, why other artists take the approaches they do, and this helps develop my decision-making, and so inform my practice.
