Nicola Paton

I am a mixed‑media artist whose practice is deeply inspired by the natural world and living things. I studied Environmental Art at the Glasgow School of Art in the 90s, where I developed a strong foundation in observation, material exploration, experimentation, and visual thinking, which continues to inform my practice today.

My sculptures replicate animal and botanical forms, drawing directly from nature and exploring anatomy, texture, and character. Through a combination of sculptural needle felting and mixed‑media processes, I aim to capture both the physical presence and quiet individuality of life. My work reflects an ongoing fascination with growth, adaptation, fragility, and resilience within nature.

I regularly exhibit and sell my work, connecting with audiences through galleries, exhibitions, community‑focused creative spaces and digital platforms. I strive to create tactile, carefully crafted pieces that invite close viewing and foster a sense of connection with the living world.
