Sally Delany

Sally Delany is an Artist and Tutor, living and working in the Colchester area. She studied Fine Art at Bournville College of Art and Margaret Street Art College, BCU Birmingham. Since the 1990s Sally has been working as an Art Tutor in Adult Education, and Higher Education in and around Birmingham.

Her teaching experience includes working as a Tutor at Bournville College of Art, BTEC Art & Design, Life Drawing Visiting Tutor, BA Animation, Life Drawing and painting at MAC Birmingham and Arts Coordinator in Arts in Health, Heartlands Hospital.

Sally’s work has been exhibited at RBSA, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and MAC Birmingham.

Sally Delany moved to the Colchester area in 2017 and is now teaching Life Drawing at FirstSite and providing Workshops and demonstrations at Frinton Art Society, the Minories and with Royal Opera Outreach projects, in schools and colleges in Grays.

Sally’s paintings are mostly in acrylic and describe beauty in the ordinary. She has a representational style of painting, focusing on strong contrasts of light and shade as her inspiration.

Her starting point is observation of the effects of light in nature and on the human form; with photography, sketching and watercolour.
